Dishes on Success and New Lamborghini Line.
Swiss engineering and Italy’s luxury automotive heritage prove an enticing mix —especially if that design expertise and panache is invested in merely a clothing line.
For the first time, Italy’s Automobili Lamborghini and Switzerland’s high-performance apparel maker X-BIONIC®, have teamed up for a collection of golf, cycling and running gear, as well as a separate line for Lamborghini and luxury watchmaker Blancpain’s Super Trofeo international race series.
The Lamborghini collection just launched the latest jewel to stud Prof. Bodo Lambertz’ portfolio of creations. Founder of the X-Technology Think Tank, the source of all X-BIONIC® and X-SOCKS® innovations, Lambertz is responsible for bringing together the engineers, scientists, textile experts and competitive athletes invested in the production of the technological apparel, aviation and automotive textiles and military gear that has garnered a multitude of awards.
“It’s such an amazing success worldwide,” Lambertz said about his company in an interview. “We nearly serve all the big markets. People come to us to manufacture car seats and aircraft seats. They say we need you,” Lambertz added.
The X-BIONIC® for Lamborghini collection brings together the best of the company’s latest developments. Each item is packed with technology, a sophisticated and complex construction, sprinkled with patents and as elaborately constructed as the Lamborghini for the racing circuit, he said.
The company Lambertz founded at the turn of the millennium prides itself on developing the top-secret formulas for its clothes that embody the survivalist characteristics of the hides and skins that protect nature’s most formidable predators and creatures.
“Lamborghini couldn’t go to Adidas, it wouldn’t make much sense. They couldn’t go to Nike. Adidas for Lamborghini… Do you think that sounds good?” Lambertz asked.
While X-TECHNOLOGY’S intellectual hub is in Wollerau, Switzerland, the production facility for X-BIONICS is located in the northern Italian town of Asola. Speaking exuberantly about his staff, the South-African raised scientist instils a tough work ethic in his employees and prides his team on their enthusiasm and dedication, and lights up when he sees employees working on Sundays, even though the company does not demand overtime of its employees.
It’s no surprise that world renowned stunt men and athletes like Australian aerobatic stunt pilot Hannes Arch, Aircraft captain/triathlon athlete Rolf Senn and multiple-Ironman winner Timo Bracht have worn his inventions on their race to victory.
“We are like in a rudder boat. We want to get the Olympic gold medal. What do we do with the one that is slowing the rudder boat down? We say that maybe time for you to leave the team. That is the best test for survival,” Lambertz said. “We could not have had a more competent or stronger partner in this sector,” said Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini’s President and CEO, explaining that X-TECHNOLOGY® tops its sector in terms of technological leadership and innovation, highlighting X-TECHNOLOGY’S 390 international awards, test wins and distinctions for design, function, ergonomics and innovation.
Crafted with aerodynamic features, adaptive stabilisers, lightweight construction and flow-optimised surfaces, the X-BIONIC® for Lamborghini gear sounds more like a sports car rather than apparel.
The high-performance sportswear pieces will be on display in selected flagship stores of both brands, as well as at prestigious race events. The worldwide rollout for X-BIONIC® for Lamborghini is slated for 2015.
