Gallery Mines d’Art in Carouge features Sébastien Barbey, a talented young esthete, who translates Baroque masterpieces with the vocabulary of his volcanic contemporary artistic language.
Far from merely using glass and jewel mosaics as an embellishment, or redesigning the expressions of master pieces, Sébastien Barbey creates with infinite patience and precision a contemporized version of the original paintings, using, what reminds us of a serigraphic technique of yesteryear, whereby the artist repeatedly superimposes, the original gestures of their creator.
Gallery Mines Art currently hosts a collection of some of the artist’s brightest and more urban, free , enigmatic and sensual reinterpretation works, for which Barbey is gaining a rapidly growing interest amongst contemporary art cognoscenti.
A rare privilege of being the spectator of a rising talent.
